#newfamilyrule is a melanoma prevention video and website (newfamilyrule.com) aimed at parents and families. #newfamilyrule shines a light on the dangers of melanoma and empowers families to take action to protect their skin.

Jointly produced by the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund and the Douglas Wright Foundation, #newfamilyrule’s goal is threefold:

  1. make families understand the severity of melanoma
  2. encourage families to treat sun protection like other non-negotiable family rules such as seat belts and bike helmets
  3. outline the ways to protect your skin

Launched on Melanoma Monday, 2015, #newfamilyrule’s important message has resonated with people and organizations worldwide:

  • over 100k views on YouTube
  • over 96k views on Upworthy
  • over 2.6m views on Health Unlimited Television
  • featured on CTV Toronto News
  • shared by organizations and companies such as the American Cancer Society, the Irish Cancer Society, The Learning Partnership and eBay Canada
  • shared by celebrities such as tennis champion Maria Sharapova, singer Hilary Duff, and parenting expert Alyson Schafer
