THE DAVID CORNFIELD MELANOMA FUND TEAM RUNS THE SCOTIABANK TORONTO WATERFRONT MARATHON

What a race day! We are so proud to be named an official charity in the Charity Challenge at the 2016 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon for the first time. On October 16, our team of 30 runners braved rainy conditions and conquered impressive personal goals. What an inspiration! We are so grateful for our runners’ enthusiasm, determination and generosity. A huge thanks for all of their efforts!

Fifty DCMF Team members raced to save lives from melanoma in the Charity Challenge at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. We are delighted to report that our runners raised a record $6,830! Thanks to all our dedicated team members for raising funds and awareness for the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund. We are so grateful for your enthusiastic support!

Deloitte Mixin’ It Up for Melanoma

Strike Out Melanoma

What an amazing night: bowling, silent auction, speeches and a fabulous vibe!  Thanks to all our supporters, Strike Out Melanoma raised $55,000! We also have a pledge for an additional $5000. This is a DCMF record! These funds will go a very long way to support our prevention and research initiatives. Thank you for all your support! We feel so grateful to have such a strong and loyal DCMF family to support our work and honour David Cornfield.

Our May 2013 event to launch melanoma awareness month  was a huge success!  If you were not able to join us, have a look at the slideshow presentation we showed at the event. Special thanks to our Board member Elyse Sunshine for putting this together.

Melanoma Base Camp

Melanoma Base Camp was a unique opportunity to learn about keeping your skin safe in the winter and meet Ski Cross Olympians Julia Murray and Davey Barr. 

Held on January 26–27th, 2013  at Blue Mountain participants not only got a chance to meet Olympians, but learned about safe skin in the winter.  Attendees were able to visit with us at our booth, win great prizes and warm up with a hot beverage generously provided by our friends at Starbucks.

NOT JUST SKIN DEEP

Photographers and families coming together in the fight against cancer.

On May 26th, 2012 over 20 Canadian photographers came together to provide outdoor sessions to up to 100 families to raise awareness and funds. Thanks to Kelly Gemmel for her brilliant NOT JUST SKIN DEEP – Portraits for Melanoma Awareness. Kelly is a melanoma survivor and photographer extraordinaire who wants to make a difference in the fight against melanoma.

Kelly and her amazing group of photographers are donated 100% of the proceeds from the event to the DCMF.

First Friends & Family Event

In 2006, before being registered as a charitable organization, the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund held its first fundraising event, which successfully raised nearly $10,000 for The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation to be directed towards melanoma research.

Second Friends & Family Event

On June 16^th, 2008, we held our 2^nd Friends and Family Event.  We wanted to thank everyone for making it a huge success.  This fundraiser raised a total of $42,000, which we would not have been able achieve without the support of our generous donors as well as all the people who attended.  The Drake Hotel’s warm hospitality and delicious food, along with the Anita Rossi Band’s energetic music, helped make this a memorable evening.  We were overwhelmed by the over 35 fabulous items that were donated for the silent auction which added an additional element of excitement to an already magnificent evening.

The event, beyond being the official launch of the DCMF and the Founders Club, served as a reminder to everyone of the seriousness of melanoma.  It was also a testament of your solid commitment to the fight against melanoma.  We look forward to seeing everyone at future events and thank you again for your support!
